As Berlin's oldest chocolate manufacturer, we draw on over 140 years of experience - for royal chocolate creations.
The marzipan we use gets its outstanding flavour from the natural blend of selected sweet and bitter almonds from the Mediterranean.
Quality from the copper kettle
The peeled sweet and bitter almonds for the marzipan we use are still roasted slowly in the traditional way in open copper kettles.
Delicately melting nougat
The nougat we use is characterised by the quality of the nuts as well as their fine grinding and professional roasting.
For our pralines we use only super green pistachios and bronze brown hazelnuts of the highest quality.
We carefully powder the truffles while they are still warm with the finest-ground icing sugar. This creates a very fine layer of sugar around the praline.
World class marzipan
For our chocolates, we only use marzipan made from 100% raw paste quality. So little sugar, lots of almond.
Hand-holed truffles are one of our artisan specialities. This is the only way to make the chocolate spikes long and fine.
Hand wrapped puff brittle
We keep pulling apart and folding the brittle mixture of caramelised sugar, butter and nougat. This creates the really fine, crunchy layers.

We make our handmade chocolates 100% in Berlin. Out of tradition and because we pay attention to quality and freshness.
Without palm oil
In favour of quality and for ecological-social reasons, we do not process palm oil at Sawade.
Our vegan chocolates and chocolate specialities are naturally free from all animal products.
Without genetic engineering
As a matter of principle, we do not process any genetically modified organisms in our chocolates and truffles.
Strawberry, lemon, pineapple & co. - we use only natural flavours for our intensely fruity creations.
Without artificial flavours
We do not use any chemically produced flavours in our chocolates and truffles, but only natural ones.
Without artificial preservatives
For the sake of quality, we consistently refrain from adding preservatives. Fresh chocolates and truffles taste best anyway.
Braille means self-determination and independence for blind people. That is why we are campaigning for Braille to become the norm on packaging.
We only process stem ginger from young, aromatic ginger. It is fibre-free and of the best quality.
We make the egg liqueur for our chocolates ourselves. We use the best ingredients and not too much sugar.
We are constantly optimising our use of materials, using cellophane instead of PET and boxes that are reusable and easily recyclable.
