Foundation „Unter den Linden“
Ladislaus Maximilianus Ziemkiewicz, who learned the art of making fine chocolates in France, founded his factory right in the centre of Berlin in 1880. He opened the first shop for homemade chocolates, confectionery and sweets on Berlin's grand boulevard, "Unter den Linden". Founded over 140 years ago, Sawade is Berlin's oldest praline manufacturer.

Madame Marie de Savadé
Madame Marie de Savadé, a neighbour of the confectioner and founder, gave her name to the young praline manufactory. Whether the two actually shared a special relationship, as is rumoured, will probably remain a secret forever.

The high society

2013
Melanie & Benno Hübel
"In December 2013, we took over the manufactory out of a passion for traditional praline craftsmanship and for the Sawade brand.
Our wish is to preserve this craft and, above all, to make this wonderful manufactory with its exquisite products known again.
Because what people appreciated and enjoyed back then is still in demand today. Sawade's regional top quality was, is and will remain a pleasure."
